25 May Lowveld Vet @ White River Equine Primary Health Plan
The Lowveld Vet Equine Primary Health Plan serves to provide a complete all year round primary health plan for your horse. It includes all strategic primary vaccinations, thorough parasite control, health examinations, dental examinations and body condition scoring. All procedures/treatments are done according to the newest scientific protocols.
The health plan includes:
- 4 Annual visitations, which will entail a complete equine vaccination scheme for AHS 1 and 2, 2 annual Equine Influenza jabs, Tetanus and Rabies.
- Bi- annual faecal McMaster egg counts
- One annual faecal sedimentation test
- A thorough bi-annual health examination
- A Body Condition Score
The 4 annual vaccinations are usually scheduled as follows:
(The months indicated for visitations are worked out according to best protocols but may vary individually according to your horses previous individual vaccination routine)
1st visit March (end of Summer): This visitation includes vaccinations for Equine Influenza, Tetanus and Rabies. A thorough health examination and dental examination without sedation are performed on this visit. A faecal collection for analysis will be collected.
2nd visit (August/end of winter): Equine Influenza, thorough health examination and dental examination without sedation are performed on this visit. A faecal collection for analysis will be collected.
3rd visit September: AHS 1- this visit includes a brief health check
4th visit October: AHS 2 – this visitation includes a brief health check.
Individual variations or requirements will be considered and where necessary the price would be adjusted accordingly per horse.
Additionally all horses registered for the Lowveld Vet Equine Primary Health Plan receive a 20% discounted rate for additional procedures as listed below, which should be schedules individually with your vet and according to the individual needs of your horse.
These procedures include:
- Lameness examinations
All lameness examinations should be scheduled according to individual need and are not part of the routine Health plan. Lameness examinations are in depth and thorough. The work up takes approximately 90 minutes.
- Sheath cleaning/ Caslick’s index
Sheath cleaning and Caslick indexes are not performed routinely but on request only.
- Dental floatation under sedation
To provide the best service, we closely work with our dentist of trust. If necessary we sedate the horse at the discounted rate exclusively for health plan members, the dental procedure itself will be invoiced by the equine dentist.
